My name is Geoff. I am 34 years old and currently working toward a degree in secondary education with a specialization in math. this is my third time going to college (BA from WVU, AAS from Johnson & Wales University). I spent ten years as a fine dining chef. I live with my wife and two dogs.
In the Screen chomp image I did for educ 2201, I showed a teacher using a smartboard to teach geography while the students use synced tablets to follow the lesson.
Our picture is similar because we both include the teacher connecting the iPad/tablet onto the smart board.
ReplyDeleteToday, technology is being used for learning throughout lots of classrooms rather then just "old-school" pencil and paper learning.
I would like to see technology used in school for the students to pay more attention during class with no distractions.
I really like that you decided to use a smartboard in your picture. My high school used smartboards as well and all of the students loved writing on it. It really helped get the students involved in class activities. I decided to use a projector in my picture, but smartboards are much more versatile. These screen chomps all represent technology being used as a tool to make things easier and more efficient. I hope that more schools will take use of these tools and create more innovative learning experiences for their students.
ReplyDeleteMy picture was similar to yours. I did a "smart board" style as well. Mine was more based off the style of boards that connect directly to computer or tablets, this way the teacher can be up moving around the class while teaching. I feel that your picture shows that technology is being used in schools and we are taking advantage of new technologies. However, I feel we don't use them to their full potential. I would like to see that we incorporate more lessons towards using technology to research and do video response to questions or blogging.
ReplyDeleteI think that its really cool that you spent time as a chef. I love watching the Food Network, and I'd have to say that Chopped is my favorite show on there. My Screen Chomp image is similar to yours, although you added some extra detail that I didn't have. I like that the teacher is using a smart-board with a laser pointer. It is especially neat that the students get to follow along on their own tablets. I think that your image is very similar to how this Instructional Technology class is set up.
